Janum 02-27-2010, 05:28 AM I've started a discussion on what my favourite voluntary group in London - The Sock Mob could do for World homeless Day : http://www.meetup.com/thesockmob/messages/boards/thread/8657702
I hope I can get enough help together to soft launch the forthcoming Sock Book homelessness services and stats directory (http://sockbook.referata.com/wiki/United_Kingdom) also on 10/10/10 - we shall see!
Great work guy's looking forward to it! Am pimping WHD wherever i appropriately can :) fingers crossed!

sazdenny 02-28-2010, 06:09 AM Over & out!
I'm trying to get some party gig & poetry peeps on side. South London based.
I think Potters Fields or OXO jubilee gardens as good places to work an event.
Or in the area down by the IMAX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!
Event ideas include ~ visual images & dancing ~ a mix of yoko & johns lie in (white sheets in bed & hippy peace & love) to symbolise the homeless need peace & comfort. Also some dancing papa guidue & baron samedi voo-doo top hatted gods working away dancing for the symbolism of death of all the deaths all those we have lost in our lifetimes (specially locally) ~ but also yet keeping it fun.. Visual images for people to remember.
Will try to gather some bods I know who I recon can help to this link...
Yours faithfully
Saz Denny
Formerly bullring/squatter/tinker/runaway/richkid/nutcase/not well but now housed & recovered & full of fire!!!

Hello Janum and Sazdenny and all the great homeless advocates in London England World Homeless Day 10/10/10. I too would ask if you knew anybody who could make a video promoting World Homeless Day 10/10/10. Its exciting to work on this world wide homeless awareness project with folks from London and the U.K.
Janum 03-08-2010, 09:48 PM Sockbook (at) gmail (dot)com is my email :) Will see if anyone is up for it ;)
Trafalgar Sq , 10/10/10 - 10pm then? :D or 10:10pm to be precise?
beatonthestreet 03-09-2010, 01:36 AM Im liking the 10.10 pm concept...
maybe starts somewhere 10.10 am
Im thinking candles?
Do you mind if i pass your email on to other groups who have been contacting me in your manor?
Btw: the way things are progressing in London.. its looking like we should be looking at another meetup of all groups interested in the not so different future?
I will find a suitable central venue... Maybe Housing Justices offices?
Certainly we should be promoting this thread/forum as a discussion space as well....
Janum 03-16-2010, 12:44 AM Well in London as you know can take 2 hours from the outskirts and cheap travel don't kick in till ten :) plus I think for persons sleeping rough early morning is more spent on warming, feeding, and waking up time - so thinking of the poor and dispossessed of cash among us (as ya do) something at 10:10pm could be good to work towars and the candle idea is lovely. Probably need lnterns (very october anyway) knowing our weather though!
Please yeah pass on email, well try and meet late april to agree agreed ideas and the execution of them...
Anyone else like idea of lighting up the square with light? would be cool and cheap enough?
beatonthestreet 03-16-2010, 04:28 AM sounds good to me....
Do we need any permissions? as we could also have a few sound systems available;)

Whoops I've been banned from Sock Mob for not wanting to play the social enterprise game so link is dead. :( Sorry.
Am routing all discussion here where I know the moderation is more about the cause not the group behind the cause :)

Trafalgar Square - insurance costs :(
Janum 04-17-2010, 05:20 PM k, costs being looked into :)
Also - am getting in touch with some other groups to see if can't put a airbed under the head of as many in London as possible on 10/10/10 to truly show - people do care - it's just quite hard to help 'omelessness' sometimes... will see what happens and report back...
Janum 05-15-2010, 03:35 PM It'd cost £1500 ish to get the Square. Insurance and cleaning bonds. :/
Hmmm.
sazdenny 07-01-2010, 07:19 AM Theres always Emma Conns LOL
Stick it to your kevin COSTner...
There's also a nice area down waterloo, hmn, next to the Imax?
Where else? How about thinking of all these places in London where buildings & land was left to the PEOPLE? What about camelotproperties? huh? hows about various other homeless historical sites? The Spike for instance? Any other ideas along these lines?
Janum 07-01-2010, 02:12 PM Did the airbed idea suck then? :)
Right Saz, yeah, well but, yeah but No well it's a smelly one this quandry what to do what to do, we walk the line between wanting a little positive income from it, and making it fun for everyone - and guess who cocks that up... same folks who benefit from werking the rental, mortgage and yay hostel market to their own benefits... bloomin typical and let me tell you... tramples my daffodils so it does...
Ideas amongst very political actions haven't been discussed yet, but should be obviously- off forum. Unless we're talking about dogging each MP for permission for Democracy camp opp westminster as a permanant place of understanding for those who want to sleep undisturbed. The Lords get to sleep protected by police. So should common homeless peons too methinks? ;) Otherwise, how can they, end homelessness any frickin way?
An event we can pull off in any event as a plan b I've splatted ere:: http://sockbook.referata.com/wiki/WHD_Covent_Garden_London_10/10/10_10am-10pm_Celebration_of_Street_Performance /simple/can do/money making/nice for people local?
Tell us about camelotproperties init? :)

Awesome stuff!!!!!!
beatonthestreet 08-03-2010, 01:34 PM There are almost 20 London grassroots groups participating in WHD...
How do we start a proper communication process.. I suggest here or shall we set up an email list?
Don't forget I'm Irish lol though I don't want to see opportunities missed....
suggestions?
sazdenny 08-21-2010, 05:05 AM today I had a meet with a fellow tentenner & thought i'd update you guys
Plans dahn this way in souf london are as follows: =o)
1) memorial service for the many homeless who've died...
hoping to get a certain church on board for this & a certain well publiciced homeless choir are considering singing for us on the day
2) walk from there (3mins) with candles to a piece of land left to the people of the streets (that a holywood geezer is trying to take off the people it was left to ~ to clean up the streets from homeless) ~ i'm hoping wreaths & messages etc will be left to show & leave our message.
3) a venue is brixton is hopefully going to be secured. I have two bods who are more organised & knowing in the music business to arrange this fun evening performed by talented homeless & ex homeless musicians etc...
4) possibly a late late party party will be held much much later that night..
there's a bod on the team who has set up an email address to email to get involved on a more doing level ~ also if anyone wants a few sheets of whd stickers ~ email your addy to londium@easy.com
