Who is Rose? And where is oldrose?

Well, oldrose was never supposed to exist in the first place. But I have a marvellous talent for stuffing up anything at all that involves a computer.

Thus, when I registered as a member of this forum a while back, using my own name (Rose), I stuffed my registration up completely, trapped myself in a catch 22 from which I couldn't even begin to imagine how to extricate myself , and had to start again.

BUT...when I typed in my name, the computer said, 'oh no you don't, we've already got a Rose, you can't be Rose.' The Rose the computer had was of course the registration I'd mangled. But computers don't want to hear your excuses.

Then in a moment of frustration I typed in oldrose to see if that would work, not really intending to use it, just experimenting...but the computer wasn't having any of that either. Oldrose I'd said and oldrose was what I was getting; computers remind me of my mother when I wouldn't eat my pumpkin - utterly unreasonable.

One day I tried to change it myself, but the computer said: getout..you're not allowed to do that. :( So today I asked Dominic if he could fix it, and he did!!! He got my name back!!! :D

I'm delighted; I only ever wanted to be just Rose. :D

Cheers, Rose.

Now, everybody hurry up and read this post so I can delete it before all the new members see it.

As far as I am concerned,
A Rose by any other name is just the same.

It makes no difference to me,
but I'm glad you like it. :)

Regards,
Konstantěn

Rose,
I'm glad to see the name change, must be my country upbringing but I didn't like using Oldrose it just seemed disrespectful. I just hope you can deal with all the red tape concerning changing your name :p its gonna make it difficult next time you want to get a new video card or something. :D lol.

that's cool rose, I was kinda wondering what was up with that too.

I think Rose is better, cos before I had a vision of somebody with white hair and lots of cats, not that there's anything wrong with that of course, but with computers you can be anybody you want to be, and Rose makes me think of that chic out of Titanic.

and thanks for posting this thread, cos I guess we were all wondering who the hell was Rose and why did she sound so much like you :)

Wow!! I didn't realise so many people had a problem with the word 'old'. I think it's because you're all young...you'll get over it. :D :D :D

I don't have any cats, sk8r...just Billie the Blunder Dog, whose highest leap so far has been a little over two metres, and who runs ten kilometres in the time it takes me to walk 500 metres. I had lots of cats when I was young, but not now. They kill too many birds, and I love birds. I think I qualify as the odd old lady up the road who feeds all the birds though, because the swamp hens from down on the river come when I call, and if I don't appear when they roll up expecting food, they stand on the verandah and scream at me.

The Rose in Titanic??? Oh no!! Not like her!! She kissed Leonardo di Caprio!!!   Oh yuk!! Don't remind me!!!

My hair definitely isn't black any more though; you got that one right. ;)

But Rose is my name, and the other name had begun to sound stupider with every passing day. Thanks everybody, for bearing with me. :D :D

...they didn't read it fast enough!

I had an Aunt Rose. Guess 'cause I'm 'old' I kinda like the 'oldrose'...making fun of myself I'd sing "the old gray mare just ain't what she usta be...", but being (used to be this too) a cheerful person would add "she's better than before...."

thanks for this forum, feeling a little better
