Default Life on da streets (Brisbane, QLD, AUS)

hey guys, I'm looking out for a human interest story to do my reporting assessment on. It's only first year stuff, so its not very long, but my previous contact at the Red Cross hasn't gotten back to me yet and I need it by Friday at the latest. So I figured I'd come to you guys

now, I don't want to idealize anything, so just don't answer if you don't want to. If you would though, could you post why you wouldn't answer? (its great feedback and helps for future posts).

    1. Only answer this one if you have knowledge of da other places
Do you think/feel/know that living 'rough' in Brisbane is a better experience than living rough in, say, Sydney?

    2. If you had to us a short phrase or sentence to describe your life (so far) on the streets of Brisbane, what would it be?

    3. Do the various charity organisations and the like actually help? They make a big front and all, but are they actually there for you when you need it?

    4. Homelessness: what's it feel like, in a word, a sentence, w/e. What's the strongest emotion you feel? is it hunger, loneliness, cold, etc?

    5. What else should I have asked? Anything you want to add. <-- place here

as always, try ot keep the rage to a minimum. if you have a problem with somehing I've said or anything like that, just PM me and I'll edit

look, any help is appreciated, but if you can't, you can't, dw bout it

Sorry Pagemaster, I don't want to have a go at you, but really, please, please make an effort to learn manners. Here's some constructive feedback that might help you get better responses.

    1. Manners. Demaning a reply, by Friday no less, without even saying please or thank you isn't a very nice thing to do. You are asking some one to take their time and effort to do you a favor. If you use respectful language, with please and thank you, people tend to be more inclined to respond.

    2. Spelling and grammar. Why should anyone put in an effort if it is clear no effort was put into this post? If you take the time to write maturely, without the 'hip' and 'cool' slang, people might take the post more seriously, and may consider that you will value their responses. Otherwise they might wonder if it is a good idea to put in an effort, if the writer has not put in an effort.

    3. Google "entitlement attitude". A lot of young people tend to treat the world, and people as though it owes them something. To be honest, this pisses a lot of people off, especially the older generations. We're not here to do your assignment for you. Your failure to plan and your deadlines are not our issue.

I wish you luck with your assignment, and take this feedback as ways to improve, not criticism.

ah. good to know, now that I read it again it's a little unclear =/

I needed the response from the Red Cross by that time, not anything else. I do apologise for that.

With the spelling and grammar, well, I'm at the very least glad you picked up on that. Yes, the post was written in a rush, and a chunk of it is in shorthand. I can't say I feel sorry for doing that, but I will avoid it in future, good to know.

As for the entitlement attitude, I certainly didn't mean anything like that, and I don't think it reads like I did. I don't treat the world like that, and I realise you aren't hereto do anything for me, hence why, a number of times I stated I was asking for your help, not demanding.

Regardless, I do hope that answers can be found, this is something that I'm interested in outside of any academia.

(And yes, I'm aware this post may sound a little narky to those who are looking for it to be so. It isn't intended in that fashion, I'm just trying to explain why the above post is the way it is. Also, I noticed you have 'nice moderator'. is there a 'nasty moderator or something like that?)

Nahh, no nasty moderators here. Every few days I will change my title to reflect how I'm doing. Today I'm the sleepy moderator.

ah ok thanks for answering too, much appreciated. It's not going to be published or anything, but do you have a name (alias or not) that you'd like me to attribute the thoughts too? I'm happy to just give you one, but if you have something you prefer...

    thanks again

Am not sure why you have chosen the red cross for information like most poverty pimps they hardly operate or help in aus .
