Just heard some good news...
Looks like the Nashville TC crew have located temporary space for 6 months at least...
Big respect to the Crew and the young Cutter, they have had some major problems and work with the floods..

WEPA!! I am so happy for them...right on Big Cutter :O)
Maybe 6 months sounds little to many but when it comes to Tent Cities, any lenght of time is a major victory...

Default Important Update...

Dear friends, children of God, we come to you on behalf of our brothers & sisters who live in Nashville’s largest homeless encampment, Tent City. As most of you know Tent City was destroyed by the recent flood & while there was temporary sanctuary for our brothers & sisters in Red Cross shelters, churches & motels, that sanctuary is now gone & we have temporarily relocated our Tent City community to Antioch. Unfortunately, many of the Antioch/ Hickory Hollow/ Cane Ridge community have been less than welcoming & are actively organizing to displace the Tent City residents from their community, leaving them- again- with no place to call home save the streets, bridges, alleys & jails of Nashville. Our friends who have been moved from one site to another to another are in the midst of their own exodus. And as God led the Israelites out of wilderness, God will lead our brothers & sisters out of the bondage of a society that damns their very existence. Stand with the least of these, God’s chosen ones, & show your support for the God given dignity which resides within every human soul; their lives may depend upon it, & our submission to the living God requires that we stand with the oppressed & the marginalized.

Default What we can do....

Nashville NEEDS our support.....

Councilman Sam Coleman is over the district where the temporary location for Tent City is and he has been receiving a TON of calls and e-mails from his constituents who don’t support the residents of Tent City. We need to let him know that we are standing beside our un-housed brothers and sisters and ask him to have compassion and do the same. You can contact him at sam.coleman@nashville.gov or 615-641-5168.

Lets stand with them...

Solidarity!

People tend to forget one of the biggest differences between a democracy and a republic. In a democracy, (which the USA is NOT) it's majority rule, In a republic, (which the USA IS) it's based on the rule of law, hence we have a constitution. The reason the founders of the country found it to be so important to be a republic was so that the majority of the people can't vote or infringe on the rights of the people, vs those in government not being able to do something becuase of a higher law they they have to answer to and the rights of everyone they have to uphold. Where am I going with this you ask, it shouldn't matter if in a town of 50,000 (for example) if 49,500 didn't want a tent city in their city, it's not up to them, the people that they are against have rights and it desn' matter what the majority want, the majority doesn't outweigh the rights of a few.
