Default So, what are you all doing at Christmas?

So, well it's that time of the year coming up again. So, what are you all doing?

I myself will be sitting at home, wishing I was not single, wishing I had some relatives to hang out wiith. Mostly wishing I was not alone.

So, perhaps some of the rest of the lonely out there would want to get together for a BBQ or something?

Thumbs up gday.

gday ramanas if you wish you had a mate or even a future marriage partner for company, look in the newspaper.
i stopped going to pubs, i wasnt involved in a club, i gave up going to church buildings, i didnt hang around the beaches. so i wasnt going to meet anybody to get to know, that i already new.
so one day i looked in the sunday mail, eg adelaides paper. and rang someone up.
she turned out to be just the person i was looking for and later we got married, we have had a couple of upheavals but got over it and moved on.
we are both artists, and both like the sea, and nature, and we both like cats.
if you get knocked back, dont take it out on yourself, as most of us pathetic humans do. just try again.
you cant please all of the people all of the time. cheers .

I will be sitting in someone else's home wishing that I was with my friends and family. I really don't care about the holidays anymore, because I spent so much time on the streets that I got use to holidays coming and going.

I just don't get excited about the holidays any longer.

Hopefully i get invited to my friend's for christmas. She once told me how they over supply with food and they practically have so much meats and sweets and etc from their camper? bags that it lasts them till feb.
Now I just have to figure out how to get her to invite me without her bf beating the crap out of me D:

I'm not sure what I'll be doing yet, but I'm fairly excited. It should be a good Christmas - I'm looking forward to playing Santa for my son (16 months old now). I wont be with my family because they don't live in the same city and we don't get along the best anyway, but my friends parents (who I call mum and dad) are coming down and I think they want to have a 'family' dinner, and then there'll be my other half's family, who'll want to do something.

Maybe people that have no where to go and no one to hang with could arrange to meet up on here and chat??

sounds good to me... I fortunately should be online through the 'festivities'

I think we did something similar last year....

Thankfully these forums are open 24/7 365 days of the year....

I will be here, so if anyone wants to send me a private message or just direct a regular post to me, I will most certainly read it and reply.
I'll also try to find some joyful Christmas related stuff (poems, short stories, photos, artwork, links to Christmas related websites, etc.) and post those to hopefully brighten people's spirits.

I guess the Direct Action Work Group will be canceled and I ll be hanging out and eating with my wingnuts housemates/coworkers and as usual we ll have an open house so friends (old and new) can drop in, shower and eat some yummy food cooked by Caro (thank god for her, I m a microwave cook)...but I was thinking why don t we set up a chat room for the Hollydays so those on the forum who are disabled or have nowhere to go to can hang out, chat maybe play some silly games???
What do you think Dominic Jar El and Jon???
I d drop in and be my usual obnoxious self ...I d love to chat with you guys live
Just an idea

yup.. sounds good to me too...

We do have to remember that a lot of our members may not have internet access over this period due to libraries etc being closed....

It might be an idea to promote the idea via the various Shelters etc who possibly have internet access?

Now young man no need for that! lol....

This sounds great, that there will be some of us around, and what with the time differences etc.. there should be someone around the forums around the 'festivities' around the clock which is fantastic.

Times like this make me so proud and glad to be a member of our community...

As we all know its a pretty shitty time for a lot of people over this period of mass consumerism and its fantastic that we can offer people some 'online' company and support...

This is the real true meaning of Christmas Mr. Big Cutter hey?

Now hopefully Dominic will remember where he put last years fairy lights!

So true.

I know I might offend someone when I say this, but in America, if it wasn't for retail, there would be practically no Christmas celebration at all. It would probably be celebrated on the level of Arbor Day (*)...which I would actually prefer.

(*)For those unfamiliar with it, Arbor Day is a holiday in which individuals and groups are encouraged to plant trees ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arbor_Day ).

I really don't think you will offend many Jor El because I think you are righe I am not sure many remember what the true meaning of Christmas is. Except maybe our friend Beaton

I think you are right too Jor El. Xsmas is just a big$$$event. I went to the tree lighting at Westlake mall downtown with my friend Friday and there were some well dressed people in the crowd carrying posts saying "buy more"...I wanted to ask one if they were protesting something (potential allies) or if they worked for MAcy's but unfortunately, the crowd was so dense I didn t get to...Freaking idiot Mayor Nickels gave a speech right next to Santa and I was hoping that Santa would push him off the balcony...:P
