Default One-third of homeless turned away

MORE than a third of Victoria's homeless people who sought help in the past year were knocked back due to lack of funding, new research revealed today.

The Victorian Council of Social Service (VCOSS) and Housing Alliance Victoria (HAV) survey indicated 11,678 people were turned away from homeless assistance services in 2003-04, while 31,359 people received help.
This was 842 more people sent away than in 2002-03, and equated to 37 per cent of people trying to get help from services missing out.

HAV spokesman Dean Lombard urged the federal and state government to provide more funding so the homeless people were not left to fall through the cracks of an under-funded system.

Victoria 1/3 failure rate!

Angry affordable Housing

It goes back to what ive said in previous posts, for instance take YCH, and what i am talking about here is facts,, there are about 10 boardmembers, total staff numbers are much higher, they have a nice website where they talk about building homes for everyone in need, how lovely, you see if you tell the government that you want to develop housing for homelessness the Government want to go to heaven too so they give large grants to these companies so they can But, Build, and Sell properties, This year after running costs, and after providing for income tax the company had a surplus of $737365.00 remember they are providing 500 beds, remember there are 10 boardmembers and probably close to 200 staff, (not sure about staff numbers) but for that amount of boardmembers there would be close to that many staff, why so many is needed??? MONEY and lots of it with the government chipping in , the boardmembers get their nice little performance bonuses, but a new mercedes and party to the wee hours, why do they do it??? because they can , and because they are NOT accountable on that level, its the same old Story,, the rich get richer the poor get shafted,

looks lik there are 32 staff including board members, im presuming a lot of these are part time, volunteers? however if you look at the expenses report wages paid out this year were close to a $1000000 cool id love to work for them, have a salary nice car, put on an air of caring while all your thinking about is how to get more money from the homeless society, if you look at the figures, the homeless gave YCH 3.1 million dollars this year in rent WOW, now thats good business nous
They have an account called employee benefits expense account
I BET IT IS , this rose from $776712 in 2004 TO $913899 in 2005 , do the poor employees need more benefits? maybe we could pass our hats around for them , or perhaps donate 10% of our begging/dole money to them to help them get on their feet, Lets get into the spirit of Xmas and help--YCH--NOT
